Charges filed in baseball bat abortion
Authorities have charged a 16-year-old Michigan boy in the death of his girlfriend’s unborn baby, alleging he caused a miscarriage by repeatedly beating the mother’s abdomen with a souvenir baseball bat.
Macomb County Prosecutor Eric Smith authorized criminal charges yesterday. According to a statement from his office, the charge is “intentional conduct against a pregnant individual resulting in miscarriage or stillbirth,” which is a felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison.
I’m glad they are treating this as a crime even though had they gone to a clinic to acheive the same results, they would have been lauded by Planned Parenthood.
The 1999 state law on which Smith is relying does not implicate the mother in such a case, even if she consented to the beatings. The girl, also 16, will therefore not be charged with a crime.
Said Smith: “This crime is shocking and reprehensible. I will not entertain any plea bargaining on it.”

They would not have been lauded by planned parenthood. Planned parenthood does not advocate breaking the law.

Simon I don’t agree with you due to evidence to the contrary, but that wasn’t my point. My point was that going to a clinic to achieve the same results would have made it technically legal, though tearing a child apart in the womb is just as or even moreso barbaric.

This was a 6-month old fetus. I agree that this was quite horrible. No doubt.
