Good Frank, Bad Frank

Governor Frank Murkowski (Alaska) just signed a bill requiring a woman to certify in writing that her doctor has fully informed her about the abortion procedure she has chosen. The state will put up a website with the information a doctor is supposed to tell the woman. Doctors will be required to inform the woman of how old her child is before she chooses to end its life.

Apparently requiring a woman to certify she has been fully informed before she chooses a medical procedure is now tantamount to shaming her:

Planned Parenthood issued a statement Wednesday declaring that the bill is meant to shame Alaska women exercising their right to an abortion.

During his 2002 bid for governor, Frank Murkowski, (who is supposedly a pro-life Republican) sent a note to pro-choice Republican women stating “I believe the state of Alaska has created a reasonable abortion policy and would not seek to change the current policy.” That’s interesting, Frank. Exactly what part of murdering children do you find reasonable?

Planned Parenthood, pro-abortion Democrats and even some Republicans are upset that Frank signed this legislation. Yeh, can’t have those women-folk gettin’ all that book-learnin’ ’bout their bodies, now, can we? Besides, it would totally get in the way of Planned Parenthood’s sales pitch.

LifeNews notes that:

The requirements of the law can be waived if the pregnancy results from rape or sexual abuse or if the life of the mother is in danger.

Whew! Because women who have survived rape or sexual abuse really don’t need to be given all the information, huh? After living through a traumatic assault, what they really need is to be decieved and lied to. They shouldn’t be burdened with the truth, should they? Wow - in which century are we living?

Feh.
