I woke up this morning to the first snow of the season! There was a thick dusting or a thin layer, either one, coating the world outside. By afternoon, when this picture was taken, some of it had settled, some had melted and some had just gotten dirty.
Though taken out of context, the above title is my favorite Maureen Dowd quote. Yes, Maureen Dowd said that, but when she did, it looked a lot more like this:

Making gluten-free bread can be a real challenge. With baking powder based breads, though, it is possible and pretty darn easy.
I took this recipe from Betty Crocker and tweaked it so it won’t make me sick.
Preheat oven to 350.
1 cup sugar (for less sweet bread, reduce to 3/4 cup)
2 tablespoons shortening
Yesterday I saw a bumper sticker that said something like, “SUV’s are big cars for little minds…” on a Ford Explorer. Entertaining.
