Quotable Jack

Wednesday, April 28th, 2004

To me, boxing is like a ballet, except there’s no music, no choreography and the dancers hit each other.

Fringe has the Christian Carnival - go see the [Jesus] freak show!

It will be interesting to watch…

Is this Noah’s Ark? A excavation will take place this August to determine if the object is indeed man-made, and if it is, whether or not it is the Ark Noah built.
A press release from Shamrock — The Trinity Corporation, which will head up the excavation states:
The summer of 2003 provided a […]

They can’t entertain me when they make me think of killing babies

Tuesday, April 27th, 2004

In case you were looking for a way to save some money and a reason to narrow down your entertainment selection, here’s a list of celebrities who marched in Washington on Sunday. The only two I really like are Sarah McLachlan and Doris Roberts. I think I’d rather not contribute to the platform […]

“Since when has obedience to Christ and His Gospel become optional to Christianity?”

1. Obsession with church buildings

Tuesday, April 27th, 2004

Before I begin, I want it clear that I am not indicting all churches that have buildings and I admit that this is far more complex than I can go into here and now. There are plenty of churches utilizing the God’s material blessings wisely. I realize church buildings are, in our times, […]

Blog or bust

Tuesday, April 27th, 2004

I was inspired by an email forward I received from a friend. It echoed some of my own sentiments about things I find annoying in the modern day Christian church, so, naturally, I decided to blog. The list I have here is just tentative, but every week or so I will expand on […]

Good times…good times

Tuesday, April 27th, 2004

Tyranical dictators ought to be crank called more often. Brilliant.

Classy ladies

Monday, April 26th, 2004

Thousands of women marched in a vulgar display of anger and ridicule on Sunday. They held up signs like, “Barbara chose poorly,” and “Barbara had no choice.” I wish I had links to pictures of those - anyone? People who were demonstrating for the specific purpose of having the right to kill suggest […]

My tutee was home sick today, which is a bummer because we have so much fun learning…and because she’s sick.

So what’s the deal?

Monday, April 26th, 2004

Are the terms “medals” and “ribbons” interchangeable or does he need to take lying lessons from Bill Clinton?

The first tasty imitation

Monday, April 26th, 2004

Another thing I can’t tolerate - quite literally - is dairy. So for my fellow intolerants out there, I’ll be collecting tasty imitations of real food recipes.
Creamy Ranch Dressing/Dip
A friend of mine adjusted this recipe and came up with a pretty good imitation for a Ranch-like dressing.
Mix:
1 ½ teaspoons vinegar
½ […]

Thanks, La Shawn

Sunday, April 25th, 2004

La Shawn Barber passes on some of God’s truth, reorienting my perspective to that of eternity and turning my seething anger into pity and sadness.
Indeed, God have mercy on them.

The March for (post-natal) Women’s Lives

Sunday, April 25th, 2004

This is my right.
I wish to God it wasn’t.

Speaking of ugly…

Sunday, April 25th, 2004

What we consider beautiful is so completely relative. I used to think Ashley Judd was pretty.
Not so much anymore.
It’s amazing how someone’s behavior can cause you to associate bad feelings with their looks, therefore making them ugly.

Why bother with character when ugly works just fine?

Sunday, April 25th, 2004

Is this shallow or realistic? Women, reportedly, tend to choose as a spouse, a man whose aesthetic dating potential is far less than the likes of Brad Pitt (I don’t even think he’s all that good looking anyway, but they didn’t ask my opinion, which happens to be their first mistake!). Women understandably […]

The crater in North Korea

What are you reading?

Sunday, April 25th, 2004

A cool post idea from www.asisaid.com.
1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 23.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the sentence as a comment on my blog.
5. Post the text of the sentence on your own blog, along with these instructions.
Here’s mine: He who is not with me is […]

He could start singing…

“Anything that is too stupid to be spoken is sung.”
-Voltaire
Not anymore.

Who is Jesus?

Saturday, April 24th, 2004

Mary Baker Eddy (founder of Christian Science): [You must] recognize that Jesus Christ is not God…
Yasser Arafat: [Jesus was] the first Falestinian fedayeen who carried his sword.
Benny Hinn (televangelist): Don’t tell me you have Jesus. You ARE everything He was and everything He is and ever shall be…
Mahatma Gandhi: I […]
